In the course of development: The brush motor is a traditional product with relatively stable performance. The brushless motor is an upgraded product, and its life performance is better than that of the brush motor. However, its control circuit is more complicated, and the requirements for aging and screening of components are stricter. Although the motor has a long life, the control circuit is prone to malfunctions. Therefore, the selection of brushless motors must undergo rigorous reliability tests to ensure quality. , But with the continuous upgrading of technology a few steps, the brushless motor technology has become quite mature.
First of all, let’s talk about brushed motors. In fact, brushed motors rely on the contact between the brushes and the rotor to maintain the steering. Therefore, the brushes are open-loop. When the brushed motors work, the coil and the steering gear are both rotating, and the stator It doesn’t need to be turned. The alternating direction of the coil current is mainly achieved by the commutator and the brush.
Brushless stepping motor: It is mainly to test the Hall element to detect the position of the rotor, and the information transmitted by the Hall element is converted into a pulse signal that can control the rotation of the motor through the driver. The difference in pulse signals can also control the speed of the motor. In principle, the brushless motor belongs to closed-loop control. The direction of the coil current is changed through the different currents provided by the driver. Therefore, the rotor and the stator of the brushless motor are different from each other. There are no commutators and brushes,
The brushless stepper motor is more suitable for use on electric bicycles. Various control algorithms can be implemented through the controller. Another advantage of the brushless motor is that its loss is relatively low, the adjustable range is wide, and the work efficiency is wide. Very high. Therefore, the price of the brushless motor will be higher, and the controller will be a little more complicated, so the cost will be a little higher.
Comparison of brush motor and brushless stepper motor:
1. Service life:
Brushless motor: It can work continuously for about 20,000 hours, and the conventional service life is 7-10 years;
Brushed motor: It can work continuously for about 5000 hours, and the conventional service life is 2-3 years.
2. Use effect:
Brushless motor: It runs at a high speed of 90 to 95m/s, and the actual effect can reach 5-7s of dry hand time.
Brush motor: The running speed and dry time are much lower than the brushless motor.
3. Noise and service life
The noise of the brushed motor is much higher than that of the brushless motor, and as the carbon brushes wear out in the future, the noise of the brushed motor will become larger and larger, but the brushless motor will not be affected.
4. Energy saving:
Relatively speaking, the power consumption of a brushless motor is only 1/3 of that of a carbon brush.
5. Future maintenance
After the brushed motor is worn out, not only replace the carbon brushes, but also replace the accessories around the motor such as the rotating gear, and the cost is much higher. *The main thing is that the overall functionality will be affected.
By comparison, in general, the performance of using brushless motors has more advantages than brush motors.
