A stepper motor is a motor that converts an electrical pulse signal into a corresponding angular displacement or linear displacement. For each input pulse signal, the rotor rotates an angle or moves forward one step. The angular displacement or linear displacement output is proportional to the number of input pulses, and the speed is proportional to the pulse frequency. Therefore, stepper motors are also called pulse motors.

There are many types of stepper motors, which can be roughly divided into three categories: reactive, permanent magnet, and hybrid. Among them, the hybrid stepper motor combines the advantages of reactive and permanent magnet, with higher torque and larger output torque. In addition, stepper motors have some characteristics:

High control accuracy: The angular displacement accuracy of stepper motors is very high, which can reach 0.01 degrees or even higher, so they are often used in occasions that require high-precision positioning, such as CNC machine tools, robots, etc.

Good operating stability: The stepper motor will not lose steps or overshoot during operation, and has good stability.

Fast response speed: The stepper motor can start or stop quickly after receiving a pulse signal, and has a fast response speed.

High reliability: The stepper motor adopts a fully enclosed structure, is not easily affected by the external environment, and has high reliability.
