Common mechanical transmission methods include belt drive, gear drive, chain drive, worm drive, and screw drive.

They can be divided into three categories:

① Mechanical transmission, in which transmission is achieved directly by mechanical parts. This can be divided into meshing transmission and friction transmission.

② Fluid transmission, in which transmission is achieved using liquid or gas as the working medium. This can be divided into hydraulic transmission (relying on the static pressure of the liquid (gas)) and hydrodynamic transmission (relying on the dynamic force of the liquid). This method provides a simple mechanism for achieving linear motion, easily implements stepless speed change, and is easy to implement automatic control.

③ Electric transmission, in which various motors are used to convert electrical energy into mechanical energy. This method offers a wide range of transmission power and is easily automated and remotely controlled. Modern specialty motors such as servo motors, stepper motors, high-inertia DC motors, and linear motors are indispensable transmission devices for CNC systems.
