Linear stepper motors, or linear stepper motors, are rotated by the magnetic rotor core interacting with the pulsed electromagnetic field generated by the stator. The linear stepper motor converts rotary motion into linear motion inside the motor.
The basic principle of the linear stepper motor: a screw and a nut are used to engage each other, and a certain method is adopted to prevent the relative rotation of the screw and the nut, so that the screw moves axially. Generally speaking, there are currently two ways to achieve this conversion. The first is to build a rotor with internal threads in the motor, and the internal threads of the rotor are meshed with the screw to achieve linear motion. The second is to use the screw as a motor. The motor comes out of the shaft, and an external drive nut is engaged with the screw outside the motor to achieve linear motion. The result of this is that the design is greatly simplified, enabling the direct use of linear stepper motors for precise linear motion in many applications without the installation of external mechanical linkages.
There are not only unidirectional linear stepper motors but also bidirectional linear stepper motors. Bidirectional linear stepping motor converts electric pulse signal into angular displacement to control the micro motor of rotor rotation. It is used as an actuator in an automatic control device. Every time a pulse signal is input, the bidirectional linear stepper motor advances one step, so it is also called a pulse motor. Bidirectional linear stepping motors are mostly used in peripheral equipment of digital computers, as well as devices such as printers, plotters and disks.
The driving power of the bidirectional linear stepping motor is composed of a variable frequency pulse signal source, a pulse distributor and a pulse amplifier, so that the driving power supplies pulse current to the motor winding. The running performance of bidirectional linear stepping motor depends on the good cooperation between the motor and the driving power supply.
Linear stepper motors are widely used in many fields with high precision requirements, including manufacturing, precision calibration, precision fluid measurement, and precise position movement.
