The difference between reduction motors and ordinary motors

Reduction motors and ordinary motors are common motor types widely used in the field of industrial automation. However, they are quite different to a certain extent. Next, let's take a look at the differences between the two from all aspects.
Precision reduction motors are a fusion of motors and reducers. Their working principle is to convert electrical energy into mechanical energy. With the help of an additional reduction device, the speed of the output shaft is reduced to a specific multiple, thereby increasing the torque output.
Reduction devices usually include reduction gears and mechanical transmission equipment (such as gear boxes and transmission belts) to form a reduction mechanism, which is mainly used to reduce output speed and inertia, and increase output torque, and is suitable for low-speed and high-torque situations; while ordinary motors directly convert electrical energy into mechanical energy, and the output speed and torque are relatively high. The current excites the wires in the electromagnetic field to generate a rotational torque, converting electrical energy into power output, thereby achieving the operation of the motor. Its output speed and torque remain basically constant and change with the change of voltage. The output torque is relatively small, which is suitable for the scope of requiring higher speed and smaller output torque.
The differences in structural performance characteristics between gear reduction motors and ordinary motors are as follows: Gear reduction motors are motors with a reduction device added to them, i.e., a gearbox or other form of transmission mechanism connected to the motor shaft. They have compact structure, relatively stable output speed, strong durability, usually long life, and can adjust the speed and torque to meet different working conditions, making them suitable for long-term and heavy-load working environments; while ordinary motors have a relatively simple structure, consisting of a motor body and a rotor, and can be matched with bearings, bases and other accessories to complete the construction of the entire motor. Ordinary motors have the characteristics of fast response and high efficiency, and generate higher excitation currents suitable for constant frequency and constant voltage occasions, but are prone to saturation during variable frequency speed regulation.
Gear reduction motors can provide greater torque output, while ordinary motors can only provide smaller torque output. In comparison, ordinary motors may not be strong enough or meet the needs when dealing with large loads. As we all know, motors can be used in different industries according to different powers, uses and sizes. Industrial reduction motors are suitable for applications that require low speed and high torque, such as mixers, conveyors, and winders in industrial production; while ordinary motors are mainly used in applications that do not require deceleration, such as power tools, small appliances, and other fields, where the output speed and torque are high. Finally, reduction motors and ordinary motors can also work together to achieve the function of reduction motors by installing a reduction device on the motor to meet specific application requirements.
