The main feature of the worm gear reducer is that it has a reverse self-locking function, can have a larger reduction ratio, the input shaft and the output shaft are not on the same axis or in the same plane, but it is generally larger in size, the transmission efficiency is not high, and the precision is not high. With this combination alone, a large reduction ratio of about 1/10 to 1/60 can be obtained.
The smaller the lead angle of the worm wheel (the higher the reduction ratio), the more it is called self-locking.
By using the characteristic that it is difficult to rotate from the worm wheel side (output side), the lifting device can be prevented from falling. In addition, by reducing the thrust clearance of the input shaft, the clearance can be suppressed.
Therefore, it is a reducer with many advantages. However, compared with spur gears, the power is transmitted by sliding of the tooth surface. Therefore, it is easy to heat up, and the transmission efficiency is not very good, about 50%.
