Worm gear reducer is a power transmission mechanism that uses the transmission of worm gear to achieve the purpose of speed reduction.

1. Working Principle

The worm drives the worm wheel to rotate. The worm is generally the active part and the worm wheel is the driven part. The rotational motion of the worm is converted into the rotational motion of the output shaft through the worm wheel. Due to the different tooth ratios of the worm and the worm wheel, speed reduction is achieved.

2. Features

Large transmission ratio: Generally, the single-stage transmission ratio can reach 10 to 80, or even higher.

Smooth transmission: Since the meshing of the worm and the worm wheel is continuous, the impact and vibration during the transmission process are small.

Self-locking: When the lead angle of the worm is less than the equivalent friction angle between the meshing gear teeth, the mechanism has self-locking properties, that is, the worm can only drive the worm wheel, but not the worm wheel.

Compact structure: small size and light weight, suitable for installation in places with limited space.

3. Application fields

Widely used in various mechanical equipment, such as machine tools, lifting equipment, metallurgical equipment, mining machinery, chemical equipment, construction machinery, etc. For example, in the feed system of machine tools, the worm gear reducer can convert the high-speed rotation of the motor into the low-speed movement of the worktable to achieve precise processing.
