Linear motors have many advantages. First, they have a simple structure. Tubular linear motors can directly generate linear motion without going through an intermediate conversion mechanism, which greatly simplifies the structure, reduces the inertia of motion, and improves dynamic response performance and positioning accuracy. This also reduces complexity, improves reliability, saves costs, and makes manufacturing and maintenance easier.

Secondly, linear motors are suitable for high-speed linear motion. Since there is no centrifugal force constraint, ordinary materials can also reach higher speeds. In addition, if an air cushion or magnetic cushion is used to maintain the gap between the primary and secondary, there is no mechanical contact during movement, and thus no friction and noise, and no wear on the transmission parts, which greatly reduces mechanical losses and avoids the noise caused by traditional drive methods such as towing cables, steel cables, gears and pulleys, thereby improving overall efficiency.

High primary winding utilization is also a major advantage of linear motors. In tubular linear induction motors, the primary winding adopts a pancake design without end windings, thereby improving winding utilization.

Linear motors can also overcome the problem of unilateral magnetic pull. Since the radial pulls cancel each other out, there is basically no unilateral magnetic pull, which makes them more widely used.

Easy adjustment and control is another feature of linear motors. By adjusting the voltage or frequency, or replacing the secondary material, different speeds and electromagnetic thrusts can be obtained, which is suitable for low-speed reciprocating operation.

Linear motors are highly adaptable, and the primary core can be sealed as a whole with epoxy resin, which has good corrosion and moisture resistance, and is easy to use in humid, dusty and harmful gas environments. In addition, linear motors can be designed into a variety of structural forms to meet the needs of different situations.

Finally, linear motors have the significant advantage of high acceleration. Compared with other screw, synchronous belt and gear rack drives, linear motors can provide higher acceleration, making them perform well in many application fields.
