What factors cause oil leakage in a gear reducer?

1. Excessive pressure in the oil tank: In a sealed gear reducer, the friction between meshing gears generates heat. According to Boyle's law, as operating time increases, the temperature inside the gear reducer gradually rises, while the volume of the reducer remains constant. Therefore, the pressure inside the reducer increases, causing lubricating oil to splash onto the inner walls of the reducer. Due to oil's high permeability, under the pressure inside the reducer, oil will leak from any point where the seal is not tight.
2. Inadequate gear reducer structural design can also cause oil leakage. For example, if the gear reducer is designed without a ventilation cover, it cannot achieve pressure equalization, leading to increasingly higher pressure inside the reducer and resulting in oil leakage.
3. Excessive oil filling: During operation, the oil sump in a gear reducer is violently agitated, causing lubricating oil to splash everywhere inside the reducer. If too much oil is added, a large amount of lubricating oil will accumulate at the shaft seals, mating surfaces, etc., leading to leakage.
4. Inappropriate maintenance process. During equipment maintenance, oil leakage may occur due to insufficient cleaning of dirt on the mating surfaces, improper selection of sealant, reversed installation of sealant, or failure to replace sealant in a timely manner.
