Planetary reducers are classified as a type of gear reducer, which uses gear transmission to reduce the speed and increase the output torque. Compared with ordinary gear reducers, planetary reducers are more compact and reasonable in design, and all parts are effectively used for reduction transmission. Ordinary gear reducers mainly reduce the speed by gear meshing, while planetary reducers not only use gear meshing, but also use the structural principle of planetary gears, that is, the planets revolve around the stars. In this system, the star is equivalent to the motor input shaft gear of the planetary reducer, and the planet is the planetary gear in the planetary reducer, which participates in the reduction work together inside the shell of the planetary reducer.
This structural design significantly improves the accuracy of the planetary reducer, and it can also add multiple identical gear combinations to the same planetary reducer to increase the reduction ratio without affecting the overall structure and strength of the planetary reducer.
The advantage of the planetary reducer is its compact design and high precision, which makes it particularly suitable for application scenarios with limited space. In addition, the flexibility of its structure allows a larger reduction ratio to be achieved while maintaining compactness, thereby providing higher torque output. However, planetary reducers also have their limitations, such as high cost and relatively complex maintenance and repair.
In contrast, although ordinary gear reducers have cost advantages, they are not as compact as planetary reducers in structure, and may be larger in size when achieving the same reduction ratio. However, ordinary gear reducers are relatively simple to maintain and repair, with low cost, and are suitable for occasions where precision requirements are not particularly high.
Therefore, the choice of planetary reducers or ordinary gear reducers needs to be determined according to specific application requirements. Planetary reducers are more suitable for applications with high precision and space requirements, while ordinary gear reducers have more advantages in terms of cost and maintenance.
