Two cases:


First of all, when the speed requirement of the stepper motor is very low, for example, the speed reaches 10rpm, the torque output needs to be satisfied at this time. In the case of long-term work, it is not suitable to rely on the servo itself, and a reducer is required.


Secondly, when the frequency converter needs low speed and high torque requirements, it can also be achieved by the reducer. For example, the speed of the servo system has no special requirements, but the requirements for the servo motor are very large. At present, the rated torque of the servo motor is 4N*M. When the system requirement reaches 12N*M, it can be realized by adding a reducer. Generally speaking, adding a 3:1 or 5:1 reducer can meet the requirements of the system.


So, why not choose a high-power servo motor? Low revs, enough torque?

First of all, when the frequency is extremely low, the torque characteristics of high-power servo are not necessarily OK. For example, when the output frequency is 0.1Hz


The second is the cost issue. The servo motor and servo driver must be combined into one, the power of the servo motor increases, and the cost almost doubles, so the cost is not cost-effective.
